Teaching
You will be taught using a variety of methods. These include:
Lectures
Seminars
Demonstrations and skills workshops
Guest lectures and industry visits
Formative assessment is continuous and includes presentation critiques and feedback on the progress of artwork production, sketchbooks, journals and research folders.
Although the emphasis of these programmes is firmly grounded in the development of creative practical work, you will also be supported to develop your skills in research and academic writing, and a small proportion of the assessment will be based on oral presentations and written assignments.
Assessment
There are no formal exams. You will be assessed exclusively on your project work.
The assessment of Pearson’s Higher National qualifications is criterion-referenced and you will provide evidence in the form of assignments which are assessed against the unit learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
All units are individually graded as a pass, merit or distinction. A pass is awarded for the achievement of all outcomes against the specified assessment criteria. Merit and distinction grades are awarded for higher level achievement.
